2010 JACL Collegiate DC Leadership Conference
Conference Description:
The 2010 JACL Collegiate Washington, D.C. Leadership Conference is a three-day program that introduces Asian Pacific American student leaders to the national policy-making arena. The goal of the program is to provide student leaders with information and training to foster positive social change.
The JACL Collegiate Washington, D.C. Leadership Conference is structured to provide a broad overview of the decision-making process at the federal level, including meetings and briefings by public officials, key policymakers who serve in Congress, the White House, a variety of federal agencies, advocacy organizations and the media. The Conference also provides an opportunity for participants to meet and work with student leaders representing colleges and universities from throughout the country.
Participants also will be briefed on legislative issues affecting the Asian Pacific American community and will examine the role Asian Pacific American civil rights organizations play in affecting public policy and pursuing civil rights legislation in the nation’s capital.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicant must be a full-time Asian Pacific American undergraduate freshman, sophomore or junior class student attending an accredited college or university.
Tuition:
The program will select 12 participants to attend the conference. The tuition for each participant will be paid through a JACL grant from the UPS Foundation. The tuition includes airfare, lodging, meals (continental breakfast, lunch, dinner) and transportation during the conference.

Roommates will be assigned by the JACL prior to the conference. A credit card and photo ID will be required for check-in at the hotel.
Travel Arrangements:
Participants arrange their own travel using discounted airline fares to Reagan National Airport (DCA), transportation to and from hotel. Airfare and transportation between Reagan National Airport and the hotel will be reimbursed by JACL.
