CHICAGO JACL WELCOME

Dear Friends,

We are pleased and honored to welcome you to Chicago for the 41st JACL National Convention.  As your hosts, we hope you’ll take advantage of all our great city has to offer – Not only is Chicago home to President Obama, the Cubs, Sox, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and the JACL Midwest Office, it is also a world-class cultural hub.  The renowned museums and theaters are worth the trip. We’ll do all we can to make your visit exciting and memorable.

By the 4th of July weekend, the city will be lush with flowers and the lakefront and public parks will be alive with activity.  The Convention Committee is hard at work planning fun adventures for the conventioneers and their families.  The newly renovated Swissotel is an ideal venue located in the heart of the city steps from Millennium Park, Michigan Avenue, Navy Pier and countless attractions.  

This year’s convention theme, “Embracing Change,” recognizes that in order to remain relevant in today’s ever-changing society, the JACL must have the creativity and flexibility to adapt to new circumstances while still remaining committed to our original mission and values.  Though we will continue to honor and reflect upon our past, at this convention, we hope to formulate a vision of our organization’s future, deliberate the issues that affect us, seek to revitalize our membership and inspire the youth that will become our future leaders.

With thousands of participants from the Chicagoland area and across the country, this is a perfect opportunity for businesses, agencies, and non-profit organizations, to reach out to the Asian American community through advertisements, booth sponsorships and other endorsement opportunities.    

Come for the meetings, stay for the fireworks.  You’ll have a spectacular view right from your hotel window!  The Chicago Chapter is looking forward to having you as our guests.
