Are you a high school student looking to participate in community building? Do you enjoy meeting new people? Are you interested in diversity?
Then the Bridging Communities-Seattle Program is for you!
The Japanese American Citizens League in partnership with the Council on American-Islamic Relations-WA (CAIR), OneAmerica, the Arab American Community Coalition (AACC), the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS), and the National Park Service is now accepting applications for the Bridging Communities-Seattle Program.
Originally founded in Los Angeles, The Seattle Bridging Communities program, with grant support from the National Park Service, seeks to coalesce Muslim American, Arab American, and Japanese American youth through the learning and understanding of the differences and commonalities that unite us under one Seattle community. Through interactive workshops, participants will focus on topics such as community, identity, human rights, culture, religion, community service, and advocacy. Work shops will take place during monthly Saturday sessions and the program will conclude with an over night pilgrimage to the the Minidoka concentration camp.
The BC-Seattle Program is an incredible opportunity to experience history outside of the classroom setting, to build new friendships, and to create lasting memories that help shape your American identity.
We strongly encourage you to apply to the 2011 Bridging Communities-Seattle Program.
